Words That Heal The World

I’m a firm believer that most writing is, to some degree, channeled—be it from Source or ascended masters, guides, angels, or your higher self. The writing doesn’t even have to be on a spiritual topic, just one that the author is passionate about or feels nudged to get out into the world. It was only within the past year or so, however, that I realized how much I use my own intuitive guidance when coaching authors.

It doesn’t matter if the client writes the book or I ghostwrite it for them; coaching is always part of the process. I work with amazing people, so we always have a great time brainstorming to set their intentions, fleshing out their content, and honing their message for the reader.  Even when a client said, “You really ‘get’ me,” or “Yes, that’s where I was going with this,” I just assumed we had a great rapport! While that was true (authors should be aligned with their coach, ghostwriter, or editor), there was something more going on. For most of my life, I wasn’t listening (at least, not on a conscious level) to my intuition; therefore, it never occurred to me that during these conversations, I was tapping into their energy. I was putting myself in their shoes and picking up on their emotions, thoughts, desires, and discomforts. Much like giving someone a mediumistic or psychic reading, this connection leads to a greater outcome—in this case, a book aligned with their purpose.  A fun bonus for me: many of my clients are intuitives, so it’s not uncommon for them to bust out with a message for me from Spirit or a crossed-over loved one in the middle of a book meeting!

If you’re an author or have been told you should write a book, you might consider the role your intuitive gifts play in that process and consciously begin to engage with them more. For example, before any writing session, grab a pen and paper, set a timer for ten minutes (or whatever works for you), and engage in “free writing,” meaning you’re not worrying about grammar or structure.  You can also try mind mapping, where you create visual diagrams to explore connections between ideas. If you need some help, Google “writing prompts” and use those to get the juices flowing.

If you have already been tapping into your spiritual gifts when writing, here are some ways you can help others do the same.

Intuitive Writing Groups: Start in a group online or in your community where members can explore their writing through guided meditations and intuitive exercises. The intention might be to receive messages or insights from their higher selves or spirit guides to inspire their writing. For fiction authors, this guidance can help with storylines and character development. You might also start a monthly book club, with fiction and non-fiction selections related to intuition, spirituality, and mediumship. Include discussions on how these themes can be woven into participants' writing.

Trust is a key ingredient to both writing and psychic mediumship. Wherever you are in your development—as an intuitive, an author, or both—choose to trust that there are helpers in Spirit right there, offering inspiration and guidance. What shows up on the page might surprise you!

Inspired Writing by Rev. Carolan Dickinson

This section will feature inspired writing. As with inspired speaking, the author will blend with Spirit and receive a word, and then start writing.

My word: Bravery

Bravery comes in all shapes and sizes. Each one of us has our unique challenges, gifts, and internal resources. What comes from that inner place of bravery depends on the day and sometimes the second.

Remember when we were kids and would go to the playground? We never stopped to think about what would happen, who would be there, and how we would get there. We just ran as fast as we could to get there, all excited to see our friends and play.

We made friends so easily then without caring about the social anxiety or “will they like me.” We went up to another child and said, “Hi, my name is ****, let’s play and instantly we had a new friend. We never considered the onslaught of negative self-talk that gets in the way. I like to think about these pesky thoughts as the Dementors in Harry Porter coming to steal my joy. It was so simple. We were just super happy to have a friend to hang out with and play.

Remember being on the merry-go-round when you would get it going as fast as you could, then jump off, spinning like a top and feeling dizzy? It never occurred to us what could happen; we were always in the moment. With age comes wisdom, and sometimes, some unnecessary anxiety about all the what-ifs. There was a sort of bravery in that innocence, a sense of knowing that all is right in our world. We knew that when we jumped off the merry-go-round, we would land. And, yes, sometimes that landing resulted in skinned knees and elbows. Yet, we continued to do it. We were brave. I believe we can be that innocent and brave once again. Hey, let’s be friends.
